Udupi, Aug 17: Traffic on the National Highway 17 was blocked for long after a huge tree fell on the road at Thenka Yermal near Padubidri here on Thursday August 17 morning.
All vehicles playing on the road were stranded for more than an hour till the tree was cut and the road was cleared by the forest department staff with the help of the locals.
Meanwhile some vehicles reached Mangalore and Udupi via Padubidri-Nandikoor-Yellur-Uchila and Padubidri-Nandikoor-Shirva and Katapadi route.
Daily commuters such as office-goers and students could not reach their destination on time and were late almost by two hours to office and colleges.
