HYDERABAD: A 14-year-old boy met with watery grave when he went to immerse a Ganesha idol in a tank at Nadergul village on the city outskirts.
The boy, A Arvind, was a resident of Pragathi Nagar, Meerpet, and a student of the government-run social welfare school at Nadergul, according to the police.
The students of the school installed a pandal on the school premises. On Monday, the students took out a procession from the school to the tank to immerse the idol, the police added.
After reaching the tank, the school watchman asked five students, who can swim, to enter the tank for the immersion of the idol. However, Arvind, who doesn't know swimming, went to immerse it.
In the process, he slipped and fell into the waters and could not come out of it as it was filled with plaster of paris. The four others and the watchman swam to the shore safely. Police fished out the body late on Monday night.
